Alpha Translate
App review test guide
Alpha Translate helps merchants translate Shopify content, URLs, image alt text, theme text, and menus from inside the Shopify admin.
Recommended review path
- Install the app on a development store through Shopify OAuth.
- Open the embedded app in Shopify Admin.
- Enable at least one secondary Shopify language.
- The managed translation service is ready without provider setup.
- Complete the initial store scan before launching translations. A scan inventories content; it does not translate or publish it.
- Open Translation and launch a small test job on one resource and one locale using Missing + outdated. Test Links / URLs separately if the selected plan includes that feature.
- Open Jobs or History to review progress, errors, speed, and retry controls.
- Inspect the translated content on the storefront in the selected language, not only the job status. Automatic checks do not guarantee linguistic accuracy. Review names, numbers, meaning, and formatting.
- Open Selector if you want to check the storefront language/currency selector extension. Enable its app embed in the theme editor and save. Currency availability depends on the store configuration.
Billing
Paid plans use Shopify Billing. The free plan remains available for testing core screens without approving a paid charge.
Rejected translations
Translations rejected by safety checks are not published. Inspect job errors and Articles to repair for remaining work. Where automatic article retries are enabled, attempts are limited; unresolved content requires attention. A completed job is not a human quality review.
Data and privacy
Service credentials stay on Alpha Translate servers. Uninstall and shop-redact webhooks delete shop-scoped sessions, settings, jobs, memory, logs, benchmarks, audit rows, and rollback records.
